2020 is coming to an end. What a year. Some people are treating it like a non-year. A year to be forgotten. But that seems to me to be a waste of so much that we can be grateful for. Despite coronavirus, I have a lot to be grateful for.
Speech! Speech!
I am grateful to have you in my tribe for a start. I am grateful for all the comments you have made in response to my posts. Comments that keep me motivated to write more, to be a bit provocative sometimes, to say the things that need to be said. Thank you.
I am grateful to my amazing PA, Debbie Frith, who enables me to achieve more than I could ever have achieved on my own. We make a great team.
I am grateful to…..oh wait, this is not an Oscar acceptance speech!! You don’t want to know who has helped me along the way. Just know that if you have been one of those people, I am grateful to you.
I do have my health, despite some challenges to mental health this year.
I have not lost anyone to Covid – though I have had two losses to old age. I am so grateful for the people who supported us through those.
I do have my home, in the middle of the New Forest, which is such a beautiful part of the world.
I do have a growing business which is aligned with my purpose of Being a Sunbeam.
I have fulfilment in my work. I love what I do and I love being my own boss.
That business gives me a sense of progress too.
I am learning and growing all the time.
I have lots of friends, here, there and everywhere.
Each day, I am also grateful for the small things. The changing colours of the seasons, a bath, a favourite smell, a good read, my puppy’s vivaciousness, my husband’s cooking (especially his fake-away Fridays) – I could go on.
What about you?
I have much to be grateful for, and much that keeps me motivated. What about you, what are you grateful for in the midst of the chaos? No need to feel guilty about the things that are going right for you. Own your gratitude. Give thanks for life and all that it offers you.

Lovely article today – thanks
Bizarrely I was lay in bed in the early hours thinking similar things about this year and how people are talking about righting it off but actually there have been many great things about the year and it’s so important to look clearly at it – I shall own my gratitude indeed ????
Have a lovely Christmas and festive break and thank you for your support this year.
