Mentor Coaching Lock-In for an ICF Credential

lock in masthead

The Lock-In is the creation of Clare Norman and is designed to enable coaches to make exponential headway in gaining an ICF credential through mentor coaching.

Finding the time and motivation to externally validate your coaching is tough! If you are ready to spend some good quality time on it and you enjoy and gain inspiration by working with others, then the Lock-In will give you that ‘loving kick’ to accrue your mentor coaching hours and complete your paperwork.

Clare is committed to your uniqueness as a coach.  Given your history, you are like no other coach out there.

At the same time, she is a commitment to high-quality coaching and has an eye for detail when it comes to the language you use in your coaching (and in life) that enables others to be independent, critical thinkers, able to express their needs in service of a more caring world.

Who is the Lock-In for?

  • Coaches looking to fast-track their ICF credential

What are the requirements at each level of credential?

These ACC, PCC and MCC candidate guides will help you to establish which level and pathway is right for you at this stage in your coaching career. The ICF website will give you the small-print and if you sign up to the Lock-In, Clare will help you to navigate these paths.

Clare has a 100% success rate of mentor coaches gaining their credential first time.

How does the Lock-in work?

The core programme

Join a group of up to seven applicants to develop your coaching practice through:

  • Seven hours of group mentor coaching where you'll practise one-to-one coaching with real-time feedback. You'll also learn by observing others' practice sessions and the feedback they receive.
  • Deepening your understanding of the ICF core competencies through practical application and discussion.
  • Three one-to-one, one-hour virtual mentor coaching sessions with either Sheela Hobden PCC or Nicky Chambers from Clare's team of associate coaches for ACCs and PCCs. Clare will host the one-to-one sessions for aspiring MCCs. These sessions top up your mentor coaching hours to the ten required for a credential. You will share a recording of your coaching and stop and start it to reflect on your use of the competencies. The intention is to build your coaching competency as you integrate the feedback into your practice over a period of at least three months.

The Clare Norman difference

When you book with Clare Norman Coaching Associates, you'll also receive unique support materials:

  • A detailed briefing on ICF credential requirements, so you know exactly what's expected
  • Practical guidance on recording your coaching and CPD hours correctly
  • For ACCs and PCCs, an introductory video with your one-to-one mentors, so you can get to know our associates and indicate your preference before the one-to-one sessions
  • A copy of Clare's book, The Transformational Coach, which will walk you through the mindset shifts you may need to make so that your skillset shifts stick
  • Ten hours of video content exploring the core competencies, including live coaching demonstrations
  • A specialist video on accessing multiple intelligences in your coaching practice
  • A welcome care package to support your learning journey

All of this is included in your programme fee, giving you everything you need to succeed in one comprehensive package.

ICF AccreditationLogos FINAL CCE

A total of 17 CCEs are available, 7 for mentor coaching and 10 for competency masterclasses.

What differentiates our mentor coaches from those you might meet as you explore ICF credentialing:

1) We (NickySheela, and Clare) understand the competencies and the assessment markers inside out, back-to-front and upside-down
2) We know what the assessors are looking for
3) We are thorough and rigorous with the process
4) We take you further than you think you might be able to stretch in your coaching - we are not just about getting you to a low bar
5) We do not treat this as a tick-box exercise - it is a growth experience
6) We enable you to bring your own style to the competencies - we would never want to put you into a homogenous box where every coach is the same
7) We enable you to work to your coaching strengths, as that's what the assessors will be looking for - they want you to pass!
8) We will tell you if we think a recording is a risk to submit (though we are unable to tell you whether it will pass, as that is the job of the assessor)
9) We develop you as a coach vs. assess you - no judgement here
10) We each commit to mentor coaching for ourselves every year (not just for credentialing purposes), to keep our own coaching sharp

We are proud of this difference that makes the difference.

What people say about their Lock-in experience

I found the group mentoring stretching and insightful. It was very helpful to listen to others coach, analyse that coaching and also have a variety of feedback on my own. This broke the shackles of some complacency I now realise I had succumbed to. My coaching has more focus and accountability as a direct result. I've understood more of the strengths I often overlook, as well as areas for improvement and some strategies to do so. Ultimately, the quality of my coaching has improved. Liz Redway.

I attended Clare's dispersed lock-in mentoring programme, which has been invaluable for me as a coach whilst I strive for ICF accreditation. Her in-depth knowledge of the ICF coaching markers and her professional approach to providing objective feedback have really expanded my knowledge. As a result, my coaching is more client-focused, sharper and flexible to experimentation. Nichola Butcher ACC.
