International Coaching Federation local coaching groups are situated throughout the UK and provide an opportunity to connect with other like minded coaches. Many local coaching groups run events to enhance your professional development.
I am Group Leader of the UK ICF Southampton Coaching Circle.
Terms of reference:
The group is open to any trained coaches who have signed up to abide by the code of ethics of one of the coaching bodies. You do not need to be a member of the ICF, but we do use the ICF competencies as our framework.
We generally meet on Zoom on the last Monday of each month, 5pm-6.45pm.
No meetings are held in August or December.
The meeting is free, unless we need to pay for speakers’ expenses, which will be split across the group that attends that evening.
We structure the meetings as follows:
- Month 1: Triad work with feedback against the ICF competencies. Everyone gets the chance to coach and be coached.
- Month 2: Action learning – many to one coaching. Two people bring a case for coaching/supervision from the group and the group reflects on how it used the competencies to support the thinker to move their thinking forward.
- Month 3: Discuss ideas for business building (usually using an action learning approach)
- Month 4: Competency focus - this is often a demonstration by a master coach
- Repeat.
- We will review the format to ensure that it keeps its energy.
Ground-rules:
- Confidentiality – what is said in the room stays in the room, unless it is our own learning.
- Competition – we will not use anything we hear in the room to compete with each other.
- Safety – we will think about how we phrase things so as to be kind to each other; respecting each other and being supportive.
- We aim to have fun.
- We commit to listening to each other.
- As appropriate, and as we get to know each others’ styles and niches, we will refer clients to each other.
Great cameraderie, effective challenge, simple programme, great tailored L&D.
Supports the ICF credentialing process really well. Has supportive, professional coaches in attendance. There appears to be a steady core group which builds trust.
Open, collaborative, supportive, free, high quality of training.
It's inclusive, a way to meet like minded people, throw ideas around whilst also get CPD and short burst coaching - all very generously run for free by Clare Norman.
