I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. Another weekend over and another week beginning. But then I thought about my story, and I perked right back up again. As I sat down to plan my week, I felt that little frisson of excitement again. There are so many cool things to get started on – the trick now is not to become overwhelmed with the magnitude of the mountain that we’re climbing.
I also realised last week how much space I had created for thinking and creating – I need to keep hold of that space. How will I do that? Here’s my plan:
- Blog each day, as that is when the major thinking happened last week
- Chat with Bob and others about the ideas, to move them forward
- Take the dogs out at lunch-time for some fresh air, exercise and space to let my mind wander
- Get up from my chair every hour – I’m going to set an alarm to remind myself to get up and walk around (that’s as much for my hip as for the break from the work)
- Read more, away from the screen. This week’s read is Touchpoints by Douglas Conant and Mette Norgaard, if you’re interested. I thought it might give me inspiration for the conversation starters apps, and it has.
What do you do to give yourself thinking space?
